ELLIS, Joseph January 12, 2020, peacefully in hospital aged 83 years, of Hawarden nr, Chester. Loving partner of Anthea, beloved father of Anthony and Guy. Funeral service at Flintshire Crematorium, Northop on Monday, January 20 at 3pm. Donations in lieu of flowers gratefully received for the Haematology and Oncology Suite at The Countess of Chester Hospital. Enquiries Caergwrle 01978 760200

To dear Anthea and family, Guy, Anthony, Rachael and Paul,
Please accept our sincerest and deepest condolences for the passing of Joe. He clearly was a pillar in all of your lives and I know he will be sadly missed by all.
Ann and I remember Joe fondly, rolling around on the floor with Madeleine for her fourth birthday (I think) at Level 41 Restaurant in Sydney. Although some twenty odd years ago I remember Joe’s warmth and generosity of spirit as if it was only yesterday.
Over the years there have been many long Sydney lunches that culminated with a poorly executed call to the UK. When Joe was on the other end of the telephone he never called us out or got cross, it wasn’t in his nature, rather he was always gracious and accepting and tried to comprehend whatever it was we were slurring.
Joe gave Ann a beautiful little clock as a token of his appreciation all those years ago and over the years the time keeping movement eventually failed. Ann absolutely refused to let go of that clock and insisted I get it fixed. Which I did.
That clock now sits on our kitchen bench, and every time I look at it, it is a constant reminder that Joe lives on in our hearts and in our memories.
