FIRST team coach Carl Darlington has signed a new deal keeping him at Wrexham until the summer of 2020.

Darlington returned to The Racecourse for a second spell last May on a part-time basis and combines his Wrexham duties around working for the FAW Trust where he is The Head of Coach Education.

The news of Darlington extending his stay comes a day after it was announced that Andy Davies, who finished this season as Wrexham boss, has left to become Dean Keates' assistant manager at Walsall.

New Reds manager Sam Ricketts, yet to appoint a right-hand man, is delighted Darlington has pledged his future.

Ricketts told the official club website: “We are delighted that Carl has committed his future to Wrexham AFC as he is a major asset to the club and will be a key part of my management team.

"I am looking forward to working with him closely and continuing the work to improve the club on every level.”

Darlington added: “As a Wrexham fan, I’m delighted to commit to a new deal and be part of the team. We made some great strides forward last season and preparation is already underway for the new season.

"Next season provides a new challenge and I’m really excited to be working with Sam to build a team we can all be proud of.”
