THE Leader asked Reds fans where Wrexham AFC's National League promotion campaign season went wrong.

Alan Mitchell, 44, of Abenbury Park, Wrexham, said simply: "They can't score goals." and added that was no coincidence that Wrexham started losing after manager Dean Keates left.

He said: "There's nothing wrong with the defence. The back four are good, the midfield are okay and they need to change the strike force - all of it."

Steve Skelton, 61, from Rossett, said: "It's been a huge disappointment for everyone because we want to be back in the Football League - we don't want to be in this division.

He cited the side's form after Dean Keates' departure and the amount of times they have lost the lead as factors.

Gwilym Clutton, 62, of Wrexham, said: "To me, everyone says it's because Keates has gone. But, it's been going on for weeks, even before Keates went."

Andy Griffiths, 49, of Chirk, said: "The wheels have come off since the manager went. They need to appoint a decent manager; someone with a bit of a track record to get them out of the league - the sooner the better."

Paul Webb, 61, of Helsby, near Chester, said: "I don't think they have been good enough all season, really. The midfield has not been strong enough - I don't think they have been supplying the forwards."

Michael Farrell, 45, a steward at Wrexham AFC for more than twenty years, said: "I think the midfield needs to be strengthened and they need to push out a lot more because they stay behind to much.

"Dean Keates leaving made a big difference they were up there in February so what's gone wrong between then and now.

"I think the will do it next year [be promoted] they've shown they can make it to the top of the league they just need two good strikers."
