THE FA Cup has lost none of its magic in Chris Holroyd's eyes.

Holroyd enjoyed decent runs in the competition at Macclesfield Town and after bowing out to AFC Fylde in the fourth qualifying round last season with Wrexham, the experienced striker hopes victory at the same stage against Harrogate Town this year is the start of something special.

"I have had a few good cup runs, I got to the fourth round with Macclesfield," said Holroyd, who hopes to feature at Harrogate on Saturday after missing the last two games with a hamstring injury.

"Disappointing last year, we had a tough draw and another tough draw this year but we will go there and look to progress to the first round.

"It would be great to have a good cup run alongside some good league form.

"It is nice to be a part of a cup run; it is great for the club, great for the players and great for the fans.

"The FA Cup is a massive thing to players so it is something we will be looking to do well in."

Wrexham know what to expect against fellow National League high-fliers Harrogate Town with the sides playing out a goalless draw on the artificial pitch at Wetherby Road three weeks ago.

Since then the Reds have won three matches in a row, the latest a 2-1 victory against Dagenham and Redbridge on Saturday taking Sam Ricketts' side up to second in the table.

Luke Summerfield scored the winner from the penalty spot at Victoria Road, converting his first goal for the club, and the midfielder says Wrexham go into game confident of reaching the first round.

"It is going to be a different type of game with the astroturf but we know how well we can play and we can cause anybody in this league a lot of trouble," said Summerfield.

"We can go into it with a lot of confidence.

"We are doing really well in the league and if we can keep the run going, that will be positive."
