IT'S still early days but Spencer Harris is impressed by the start to Sam Ricketts' reign as Wrexham boss.

Ricketts was the man the board turned to ahead of Wrexham's 11th season in the National League and the former Wales international hasn't disappointed in his first management role.

Wrexham go into today's game at Sutton United sitting second in the table, just one point off top spot, and director Harris is pleased with how things are going.

"Sam has done a fantastic job but he would be the first to say it has been a team effort," said Harris.

"He has got great backroom staff supporting him and all are working really well. Everybody is highly delighted.

"The football that is being played is fantastic and the first half against Ebbsfleet was simply breathtaking.

"It has been great but it's a start.

"We have got points on the board, nobody can take those away from us, but there's another 35 games to go and we need to keep performing at those levels and see where it takes us."

Wrexham have taken 24 points from 11 games, losing just once, and Harris says the hard work has paid off.

"Even if the results hadn't been what they are, we would be just as enthusiastic from what we have seen from Sam and his team," added Ricketts.

"The fact that they work hard at the things that they do has resulted in a tremendous set of results from the start of the season which is absolutely fantastic.

"That is the output of what they are putting in behind the scenes."
