KINGSLEY EVANS is the winner of the Dave Lovett WST Unsung Hero Award.

The award is in memory of the late Wrexham Evening Leader reporter who covered the club for many years.

Evans presents the Dragonheart Radio Show which airs every Friday on Calon FM.

It mixes chat with interviews with current and former players, analysis of past and upcoming games, and is a huge hit with Wrexham fans.

A delighted Evans tweeted: "Just wanted to say thank you for the award of @WSTtweets Unsung Hero Award 2017/18, for @DragonheartWxm Really surprised But happy. Thank you to all the fans who listen or download the show each week, it’s much appreciated."

Wrexham captain Shaun Pearson dominated the end of season awards.

Centre-back Pearson was named Player of the Season and he also scooped the awards from three fans' groups - Mold Reds, Buckley & District Reds and Shropshire Reds.

Top scorer Chris Holroyd was the Junior Dragons player of the season, the Isle of Man Reds gave their award to Manny Smith, the Bob Clark Scholar of the Season was Doug Tharme and Paul Rutherford was named the Kings Mills Reds Most Improved Player.

The winner of the Steve Edwards Goal of the Season was Holroyd for his strike at Tranmere Rovers.

Wrexham played the majority of the game with 10 men but Holroyd's second half goal - his first for the club - sealed a memorable 1-0 win at Prenton Park.

Holroyd's goal also won him the Rhos & District Reds Defining Moment award.
