Shotton Steel coach Mike Roberts says his side's clash with Division Two leaders Denbigh could be the biggest in the club's history.

The promotion-chasing Steelmen are in fine form this term an registered an emphatic 69-0 hammering of Rhyl last time out.

Two tries apiece from Dan Lynskey and Roy Cardus complemented a hat-trick fro flanker Shaun Kemp in the rout, which kept Shotton in the second automatic promotion spot.

He said: "This is probably one of the biggest games in the clubs history as a win could potentially secure promotion and that's not been lost on the players.

There been a great attitude in training and an increase in intensity has been great to see.

"We go into it with a fully fit squad and the pitch at Rowleys Drive has fully recovered from our recent junior festival, so it should be a great game for the neutrals as both sides like to play a wide expansive game.

"Our pack or working extremely well around the park and as usual if we can secure enough ball our backline is capable of producing something special at any moment."

Wrexham remain just four points adrift of Shotton in third place and retain an outside chance of usurping their league rivals for promotion.

Alan Jenkins' me head into their game at home to Rhyl buoyed by a convincing 48-17 midweek win against Newtown.

Jenkins was pleased with the performance and hopes for a repeat performance against Rhyl, who beat Wrexham earlier in the campaign.

He said: "Newtown were quite tough with a few good powerful forwards. We took our chances well and ran in a few tries some worked from deep in our own half.

"We'll take stock of the injuries ahead of Saturday. We lost to Rhyl earlier in the season in what we thought was a very disappointing performance for us and there's definitely a point to prove in this return.

"The squad will be pleased we've bounced back after the Denbigh loss and we just need to keep the momentum up for the next two games and end the season with wins."
