OVERTON RC clinched the Wrexham Snooker League title following a dramatic black-ball last shot of the season thriller.

Gresford VRC A beat Rhos Snooker Club 5-1 meaning Overton needed to beat War Memorial B 6-0 to finish top.

And that’s exactly what they did but did it the hard way as they won an epic final frame.

Nick Rogers, who needed two snookers at one stage, dispatched the last three colours and then won the frame on a re-spotted black.

Ross Tomlinson’s Overton finished level on points with Gresford but Overton were crowned champions after winning one more match over the course of the season meaning Gresford had to settle for runners-up spot.

Liam Roberts, Matt Ryder, Tomlinson and Jude Roberts were Overton’s other final day winners.

War Memorial A triumphed 5-1 over Johnstown RBL C to seal third place and Johnstown RBL B, who were the defending champions, lost 4-2 against their A side and took fourth position.

Gwersyllt Club A beat St Marys B 4-2 and finished fifth, just ahead of their B team who defeated St Marys B 4-2 with Tom Cochran making a break of 48 in his victory.

Brymbo Sports B ran out 5-1 winners against Brymbo Sports A and Brymbo Cons lost by the same score at home to Gresford VRC B.

Groves A have won the Deeside Snooker League title.

A 5-1 final day victory at Mold Social meant Groves finished five points ahead of runners-up Corus who overcame Groves B 4-2, Neal Jones (53) and Alex Taubman (40) contributing with decent breaks.

Ewloe C lost 4-2 at Navy A and finished third on the same points as Blossoms Sports, who went down 5-1 at Buckley Cons A.

Buckley Cons B beat Blossoms Bagillt 4-2, Navy Seals lost 5-1 at Ewloe A and Ranch A defeated Buckley Cons D 4-2.
