RICKY WALDEN bowed out of the World Championship as Judd Trump hit top form to reach the quarter-finals.
Chester's Walden and world number four Trump went into yesterday's final session locked at 8-8, but the latter progressed 13-9 courtesy of an impressive performance.
World number 27 Walden won the opening frame of the day to edge ahead, but Trump decided enough was enough and reeled off the next five to secure overall victory.
Breaks of 66, 70 and 66 helped Trump establish his lead, before he finished off the victory with a fine-frame clearance of 103.
Trump said something "kicked in" during the match with Walden, who sparked his opponent into life in the 17th frame.
“He took on a crazy shot when he was 9-8 up and that spurred me on,” said Trump.
“I felt alive for the first time in the tournament.”
