Surrey routed Somerset by an innings and 68 runs with more than four sessions to spare to replace their opponents at the top of the Specsavers County Championship Division One table.

Jade Dernbach and Morne Morkel shared eight wickets as Somerset, who had followed on 279 runs behind, were bowled out for 210 in 61.2 overs at Guildford.

It is the first time since 1958 that Surrey have won three games in succession by an innings and they went on to win the Championship that season as well.

Nottinghamshireā€™s Tom Moores, the 21-year-old son of head coach Peter, hit 87 off 80 balls to help his side set Essex an implausible winning target of 441.

Usman Khawaja and Kiran Carlson shared an unbroken stand of 153 to give Glamorgan a lead of 122 heading into the final day against Derbyshire at Swansea.
