Andy Morrison and Huw Griffiths have both been nominated for the Welsh Premier League's Manager of the Season Award.

After highly successful seasons with their respective clubs, the pair have made the three-man shortlist that also includes The New Saints manager Scott Ruscoe.

Connah's Quay Nomads boss Morrison has been nominated for the third successive season after he led the club to a third-place finish as well as Welsh Cup glory.

He said: "I'm delighted to be nominated again for the Manager of the Season award.

"When I joined Connah's Quay Nomads in November 2015 with the club bottom of the league, if you'd have told me I would be nominated for the award for the next three seasons, I'd have probably laughed.

"I'm extremely fortunate to have a fantastic group of staff behind me - this nomination is recognition for all the hard work that they do that goes unnoticed."

Griffiths oversaw a fine campaign for Cefn Druids, which culminated in them securing a Europa League place after beating Cardiff Met in the play-off final.

Based on those achievements, the Ancients boss joked that he would quit if he is not named as this season's award winner.

He said: "If I don’t get manager of the year I’m retiring.

“If we’d lost in the play-off it would still have been the biggest achievement this season.

“We were favourites to go down at the start of the season - I’d love to see what the odds were - and now we are in the Europa League."

Saints boss Ruscoe led the Oswestry side to a seventh successive Welsh Premier title in his first season at the helm.

The award winner will be announced at the Welsh Premier League end of season awards night next weekend.
