EUROPA LEAGUE here we come.

Cefn Druids secured a place in the European competition with a 1-0 Welsh Premier League play-off final victory over Cardiff Met on Sunday, James Davies' first-half strike securing a memorable home win.

And midfielder Matty Owen was delighted to have helped played his part in turning Druids from relegation favourites to Europa League qualifiers.

Owen, who signed from Connah's Quay Nomads in January, told the Welsh Premier League podcast: "It's great. We were relegation favourites when I came here at Christmas, obviously we made the top six and we've pushed on from there.

"In the top six we've managed to get more points and we've overtaken Cardiff Met to deserve our place in the final.

"We knew if we played well we would get the right result, it's fantastic."

Playmaker Owen has European experience with Nomads and Newtown, unlike defender Naim Arsan, who can't wait for his shot at the Europa League.

"It's my first time and I'm really looking forward to it to be honest," said Arsan of qualification.

"It's not something I ever dreamt about doing, but I'm absolutely delighted."

Arsan also reserved some words of praise for boss Huw Griffiths, who has masterminded Druids best-ever top-flight finish this term.

"He's very good," said Arsan. "He's loud on the sideline, but what a guy. He's a great manager."

Druids coach Dave Taylor also had his say after the 1-0 success over Cardiff Met, praising the Ancients' defensive record.

"We've had to defend really well, but the lads have defended really well all year," said the former striker.

"Nobody has really given us a battering.

"We haven't scored as many goals as we would have liked, but, at times, the organisation has been superb.

"We are really pleased."
