CEFN DRUIDS beat Cardiff Met to book their place in the Europa League - but Huw Griffiths insists the hard work was done nine months ago.

Boss Griffiths watched on as Druids held on to the lead given to them by James Davies to secure a 1-0 Welsh Premier League play-off final success.

Rather than focus on those 90 minutes, Griffiths spoke about the work done before a ball had been kicked last summer.

"This game was won nine months ago," said Griffiths. "It was 33 games of hard work, but we prepared right all those months ago."

Griffiths, who led Druids into the Europa League after finishing as Welsh Cup runners up in 2012, continued: "It was another game, but one with a big ending if we won.

"We went for a run up Moel Famau ahead of the final and that has tipped it in our favour. One of the players said to me after the game that psychologically it has helped. He said that I only took them up to Moel Famau, which is something we do in pre-season, to say what I did at the top. He's right.

"I was having an exchange of messages with my assistant Jayson Starkey and I stopped it short by saying 'don't worry, we'll win'. I was confident we'd have enough."
