HUW GRIFFITHS is a proud man regardless of whether Cefn Druids complete a "remarkable" season with play-off final glory.

The Druids boss saluted his squad of players ahead of Sunday's winner-takes-all showdown with Cardiff Met at The Rock, a place in the Europa League at stake for the victors.

Griffiths, who led Druids to Europa League qualification from the Cymru Alliance in 2012, insists he is calm and collected ahead of his side's crunch clash.

"I'm a proud man," he declared. "I am looking forward to it. I am relaxed about the match. It's number 33 of a remarkable season for this group given our resources.

"No matter what happens we are the team that overachieved more than anyone else this season.

"We've got one game to go, it's massive, but I am calm, collected and up for it."

Without a game since April 27 after receiving a bye to the play-off final, Griffiths combined team bonding and fitness in the build up to Sunday's showdown.

"We do some fitness work up Moel Famau in pre-season and I took the lads back," said Griffiths. "We usually do five laps, but we did one and a half before we walked to the top as a group and had a picture in the rain.

"I just told the lads that it was a little reminder of how hard they've worked to get this far and whatever happens on Sunday, it won't have been as difficult as pre-season.

"It was an exercise to get the lads to remember where they've come from, the humble beginnings at the start of the season."

Griffiths, who believes the team that manages their emotions the best will come out on top, was impressed by Cardiff Met's performance as they beat Barry Town United 4-1 in last week's semi-final.

"They played a 3-3-2-2 formation that Louis van Gaal played," reflected Griffiths. "They were very good against Barry and they are a better Cardiff Met than the one who lost the play-off final to Bangor last season.

"I like what Cardiff Met do and they've got the experience of last year, but we are at home and we will be ready."
