NAIM ARSAN is determined to cap a memorable season by helping Cefn Druids qualify for the Europa League.

The Ancients have booked their place in Sunday's Welsh Premier League play-off final against Cardiff Met courtesy of a best-ever fifth place finish in the top-flight.

And while Huw Griffiths' Druids have been breaking records, Arsan has enjoyed his 2017/18 campaign having represented Wales C against their English counterparts in March.

Arsan now wants to end the season on a high, declaring: "I’m really looking forward to the play-off final. It’s definitely the biggest game of our season and I think we deserve to be in it.

"The victory would mean an awful lot to the lads, it’s what everyone wants and who doesn’t want to play in Europe?

"It’s massive for the club financially and it puts the club out there and personally, I've always dreamt about playing in Europe in any round!

"To play in Europe would be my biggest achievement in football.

"I’m sure if any player had the opportunity to play in Europe they wouldn’t think twice as not many people get the chance to play in Europe so to get the opportunity would be very special."

On his impressive season, which has also included 28 league appearances for Druids as well as further international recognition with Wales Futsal, Arsan continued: "If we were to qualify for Europe it would definitely top off a great season for me, if you told me at the start of the season that I would get a Wales C cap and play in Europe I would never have believed it."

Druids beat Cardiff Met 3-1 both home and away after the league split in two, 24-year-old Arsan insisting that the Ancients should be focusing on their own game rather than the threat posed by Sunday's visitors, who won 3-0 at The Rock on the first day of the season.

"I am confident that we can make it three wins in a row," said Arsan. "Personally I think they should be the ones worrying about us from the last two results, but I think their biggest threats are their wide players as they have played a massive part in their season."

Asked about his chances of scoring the winner against Cardiff Met to cap a wonderful season in style, Arsan, who has two goals to his name this term, added: "I’m sure the odds on me scoring the winner are very high as I don’t get many!

"But if the chance comes to me I will try my best to take it and that would be a great way to get my tally for the season to three."

If Druids do beat Cardiff Met then they will feature in a new Europa League preliminary round alongside Connah's Quay Nomads and Bala Town.

There will be 16 teams drawn into two legged home and away ties with eight being seeded on June 12, the matches taking place on June 28 and July 5.

The eight teams that progress will then take their place in the first qualifying round, the draw for which takes place on June 19 with the first leg on July 12 and second leg a week later
