The region's young footballers will have the chance to showcase their talents when the Welsh Premier League champions hold trials this week.

The New Saints are inviting players aged from of 6-16 to open trial sessions at The Venue in Oswestry, which start on Tuesday, May 8.

With sessions running over a two-week period, successful trialists could earn a place in the club's academy set-up.

Academy coach Daniel Binnersley said: "We currently have players coming as far as Bolton to train and play at The New Saints, with the players having the opportunity to train and play on superb facilities as well as playing against Premier league academies so there are plenty of opportunities within the football club.

"We promote the academy based on development and not results and encourage all ages to get involved, we also have girls football teams with the woman's first team currently third in their league and having a great cup run, which shows that we are doing something right

"We also have an amazing scholarship programme in place where the players get put into education whilst playing football so we do promote education as much as the footballing side, on top of this we currently have three players from our scholarship team pushing into the first team.

"We have some of the best facilities around and are competing with top English league clubs and with an excellent programme in place there are amazing opportunities to push and be a professional player.

"All coaches are UEFA licensed coaches and pride themselves on developing the players both on and off the pitch."

Trials are charged at £3.50 per session. To register your interest in the trials email: jason.brindley@tnsfc.co.uk
