Chirk come up against captain Andrew Swarbrick’s tip for the Premier Division title as Menai Bridge visit tomorrow.

Menai Bridge have not finished outside the top two in each of the last six seasons, winning the title in 2014 before retaining their crown the following summer.

Dion Holden’s side have won all of their three completed matches 15-0 to sit second in the table, eight points behind Brymbo, who have played a game more.

And Chirk skipper Swarbrick feels Menai can improve on back-to-back second placed finishes by taking the trophy this season.

“They are very strong,” he said. “I tipped them for the title before the league started and I still think they will win it, and win it with ease.

“They’ve got a quality batting line up and we know we will have to be at our best to give them a game.”

Despite Swarbrick’s words of praise for Menai, he’s certainly not about to let the visitors leave Chirk with another 15 points.

He added: “I’m confident. We’ve had a bit of bad luck with players missing, but I feel that we can win. I feel we can win every game.”

Chirk’s chances of victory are dented by the absence of Nick Flack, Steve Kelshaw and Billy Swarbrick, but Gareth Partridge and Adam Shillcock return.

Gresford are wary of the threat posed by hosts Pwllheli tomorrow.

Pwllheli have a habit of struggling after winning promotion to the Premier Division, but Gresford captain Chris Ellwood reckons they will be a threat, certainly only home soil.

“Pwllheli are always a tough task at their place,” said Ellwood.

“I imagine they will shock a few in their home games.”

Gresford were without a league fixture last Saturday, but tackled Colwyn Bay the following afternoon, the Wrexham-based outfit losing by eight wickets.

“Despite the defeat it was good test and good experience for the lads,” added Ellwood, who is missing tomorrow’s trip, meaning Danny Williams will captain.
