MARCHWIEL AND WREXHAM made their mark on the opening night of the Chester and District Midweek League by beating Red Lion by 33 runs in Division One.

Chris Woodcock struck a half century and Iroshan De Silva added 36 as Marchwiel posted 163 for five at Red Lion, who were bowled out for 130 in reply.

Mold got the better of Flintshire rivals Hawarden Park as they eased to a seven-wicket home win, Isaac Allen hitting a half century for the victors in their 108 for three after David Hughes hit 50 in the visitors' 104 for five.

Gary Solomon (54) and Sam Johnston (50) were in the runs as Academicals (163-2) beat Tarporley (160-3) by eight wickets, Owen Williamson hitting 51 for the losing side.

Kingsley Knights were also winners as they reached 100 for seven in reply to Llay Welfare's 99 for seven to claim a three-wicket home win.

Brymbo Brewers got their Division Two campaign off to a positive start by beating Cornerhouse by nine wickets.

Cornerhouse posted a challenging 156 for five from their 20 overs, but Brymbo chased that down with ease.

Chris Andrews struck 50 as Saughall (136-2) won by eight wickets against West Cheshire Crossbatters (135-5), while HGWCC claimed a walkover win with Golden Eagle unable to raise a side.

Home advantage counted for very little as the trio of completed Division Three matches went in favour of the away teams.

Leading the way were West Kirby Wasps, who posted 190 for three before bowling West Cheshire out for just 81 to claim an 109-run success.

Following suit were Gwersyllt Park (113-6) who beat Gresford (100-9) by 13 runs and The Groves (95-7) who defeated Halkyn (80-8) by 15 runs.

Northop Hall are up and running in Division Four after they defeated Abergele by 29 runs.

Visiting Hall posted 138 for one with Ben Slater and James Hurlin scoring half centuries, before Jack Billington bagged 3-8 to restrict Abergele to 109 for eight in reply.

Ryan Beswick hit 51 as Saightonians (154-1) defeated Outlaws (110-5) by 44 runs, while Oakmere (135-4) beat Castle Square Cutters (133-6) by six wickets and Bromborough claimed a walkover win against Burton.

Ian Noonan starred with bat and ball as Kinnerton claimed a nine-wicket Division Five success over Dodleston.

Noonan pocketed 3-11 as Dodleston posted 149 for four, Tim Hughes and Matt Hughes both hitting half centuries.

All-rounder Noonan then struck 51 as Kinnerton reached 153 for one in reply.

Wirral (173-3) won a high-scoring contest against Shotton (171) by seven wickets, while Bank of America (49-2) beat Westminster Park (46) by eight wickets in a low-scoring affair.

Frodsham claimed a walkover win after Oak Tree Outlaws failed to raise a side.

Adam Shaw claimed 3-12 as Buckley (79-1) beat Chester Taverners (78-7) by nine wickets in Division Six, while Defib (116-6) overcame MP Plumbing (115-4) by four wickets.
