GWERSYLLT PARK made it two wins from two North Wales League Division Two outings as they defeated Corwen by eight wickets.

The Gwersyllt bowling attack proved the catalyst for victory as they skittled Corwen out for just 86 after being invited to field first, James Collier (3-16), Michael Griffiths (3-26) and Neil Green (2-4) the pick of the bunch.

Gwersyllt lost two of their top four in reply, but Ian Pearson (29 not out) and George Miles (28no) guided their side to victory inside 25 overs.

Rock-bottom Llangollen proved that they are better than their league standing suggests by beating hosts Halkyn by nine runs.

Tom King struck 62 at the top of the order for Llangollen, who were forced to concede one of their early season fixtures. while Jordan Mash (24) and Richard Hughes (21) also chipped in to help their side to 144.

There were two wickets apiece for Halkyn quartet Graeme Settle, James Beresford, Philip Keidel and David Travis, although the Flintshire side's batsmen couldn't get them over the winning line.

Alex North struck 47 and Paul Rutherford hit 20, but they were bowled out for 135 with 19 balls to spare, Arthur Jenkins bagging 5-33.

Matthew Jackson took 3-19 and hit 31 as Bodedern (129-6) defeated Ruthin (127-7) by four wickets in the third tier's only other game of the weekend.

Harry Williams bagged 6-15 as Pontblyddyn Seconds defeated Menai Bridge Seconds by four wickets in the Second XI Premier Division.

Williams ran riot as Menai were skittled for just 76, before Pontblyddyn reached 80 for six inside 21 overs, Callum Andrews taking 5-20.

Tom Dawson (30) and Daz Wilcock (22) broke the back of the run chase for Pontblyddyn.

Llay Welfare Seconds needed just 42.1 overs to wrap up a 10-wicket home win over Hawarden Park Seconds.

Having won the toss, Hawarden were bowled out for just 58, extras top scoring with 13 as Mike Phennah (4-11) and Steve Partington (3-11) impressed.

The experienced Phennah then struck an unbeaten 30 as Llay eased home.

Two of the league's early pacesetters went head-to-head with Northop Seconds beating Carmel and District Seconds by eight wickets.

Aside from Dafydd Bailey's 49, Carmel's innings failed to catch fire as they were bowled out for 103, Thomas Hughes helping himself to 4-30.

Andrew Oates matched Bailey's score at the top of the order for Northop, but once he went Leo Grieg (27no) and Hughes (18no) saw their side across the line.

Brymbo Seconds were forced to work hard for victory as they beat hosts Buckley Seconds by just two wickets.

Steven Eltham hit 46 not out and Johnny Hewitt struck 25 as Buckley posted 138, Will Smith (4-21) and Elliot Hughes (3-23) impressing with the ball.

Ross Roberts (31) got the Brymbo reply off to a solid start, before Hughes (44) and Tom Emmerson (20) helped their side to victory, despite 4-19 from Jason Lloyd.

David Baker struck an unbeaten 69 as Gresford Seconds (145-4) beat Bangor Seconds (144-9) by six wickets, while Jon Eccles (94) and John Lee Rowlands (87) were in the runs as Denbigh Seconds (256-5) defeated Mochdre Seconds (133) by 123 runs.

Maeshafn Argoed remain top of the Second XI East Division following a 10-wicket home win over seven-man Rhewl.

To their credit, Rhewl scored 105 for four from their 40 overs, although it ultimately could for little as Maeshafn found the gaps in the field all too inviting, the hosts easing to 106 without loss inside 15 overs, Cameron Roche hitting an unbeaten 58.

Connah's Quay Seconds remain hot on the heels of Maeshafn after they cruised to a 112-run home win over Marchwiel and Wrexham Seconds.

Darren Prichard (48) and Kieran Coppack (42) combined impressively as Quay scored 198 after being asked to bat first, Gareth Evans (4-42) and Sion Edwards (3-48) in the wickets.

Chris Boden then claimed 3-9 as nine-man Marchwiel were bowled out for 86, Evans top scoring with an unbeaten 25.

Elsewhere, Ruthin Seconds (77-4) overcame Halkyn Seconds (76-8) by six wickets, Chirk Seconds beat Gwersyllt Park Seconds by 16 runs and Mold Seconds claimed a walkover win against Castell Alun, who failed to raise a side.
