BRYMBO climbed to the top of the Premier Division as Hawarden Park slumped to the bottom on a day of mixed emotions.

Captain James Claybrook led from the front as Brymbo overcame Northop by 75 runs at Tan-y-Fron, while a heavily depleted Hawarden side were thumped by 275 runs at Bangor.

Having won the toss, Claybrook struck 65 at the top of the order for Brymbo, who posted 204 for six, Dan Parry hitting a half century, which included three sixes, and Gareth Boyes adding 33 from 23 balls.

Brymbo's new ball pairing of Ben Roberts (3-18) and Parry (2-15) then combined to leave Northop in trouble, Tom Blackwell's 36 aside, before Mohamed Nilam Jayman pocketed 3-30 to bowl the Flintshire side out for 129, Bart Beswick hitting an unbeaten 37 from 15 balls.

It was a day to forget for Hawarden Park as they felt the full force of David Winter, who struck 175 not out to help Bangor post 317 for two from their 50 overs, Nadeem Rehman adding 83 as David Hughes picked up both wickets.

The Hawarden reply lasted just 85 balls as they were bundled out for 42, Craig Wilson finishing unbeaten on 23 and extras contributing 12.

Gresford recorded their first victory of the season as they beat Chirk by seven wickets in low scoring contest.

Wynn Jones was left stranded on 27 not out as Chirk were bundled out for just 75, Jack Bunkell, Simon Perry and John Bell pocketing three wickets apiece.

Chirk applied some pressure to Gresford's run chase, but Matthew Cree (30 not out) saw his side over the line inside 22 overs.

Dave Phennah was the star of the show as Llay Welfare clinched their first Division One success of the season by beating Conwy by 137 runs.

Phennah struck 77 at the top of the order as Llay posted 235 for four, Jacob Roberts (59) and John Lloyd (37no) also in the runs.

All-rounder Phennah then bagged 5-10 as Conwy were hurried out for 98, Tom Crewe (3-33) and Nathan Humphreys (2-35) also in the wickets.

In Division Two, Ruthin (97-3) eased to a seven-wicket home win over Corwen (95-8)

Lewis Davies had a day to remember as Pontblyddyn Seconds defeated Hawarden Park Seconds by 140 runs in Second XI Premier Division.

Davies crashed an unbeaten 134 as a strong Pontblyddyn, who conceded on Saturday, cruised to 274 for four, James Hughes (62) and Ed Jones (56) also in the runs.

With the ball, Davies then took 7-25 as Hawarden were bowled out for 134, 97 of which came from the impressive Jamie MacDonald.

Carmel and District Seconds were also victorious as they overcame Buckley Seconds by seven wickets.

Leon Davies (4-11) and Nick Hughes (3-19) combined as Buckley were bowled out for 105, a total which Carmel needed just 30.2 overs to surpass.

Dafydd Bailey (43no) led Carmel's run chase with Liam Ho taking 2-14 for Buckley.
