All Stars Cricket is back with North Wales playing a prominent role in the programme.

Eight clubs in Flintshire - Buckley, Carmel, Connah's Quay, Hawarden Park, Mold, Northop, Northop Hall and Pontblyddyn - and six sides in Wrexham - Bersham, Brymbo, Gresford, Gwersyllt Park, Llay, Marchwiel and Wrexham - are taking part in the ECB led scheme.

The initiative was launched last year with a programme aimed at all children between five and eight, teaching them the basic skills of cricket, including batting, bowling, catching and throwing.

Every child that registers for the All Stars Cricket programme, which has it's own mascot in Twinkle, will receive a participant pack, including a backpack, cricket bat, cricket ball, personalised shirt, cap, and activity book with those returning from last year also getting a set of stumps.

Sessions start from May with North Wales club development officer Ian Martin saying: "Every child that registers for All Stars Cricket is guaranteed eight weeks of jam-packed fun.

"The programme teaches children the basic skills of cricket, but also about the spirit of the game and how to work as part of a scheme."

Other North Wales League teams running the scheme include Abergele, Bangor, Conwy, Denbigh, Dolgellau, Llandudno, Llanrwst, Menai Bridge, Mochdre, Pwllheli, Ruthin and St Asaph, with Colwyn Bay, Overton, Christleton, Chester County Officers and Barrow also participating.

The start date for the All Stars Cricket will depend on individual clubs but should be any time after May 11.
