CONNAH'S QUAY remain top of the Premier Division after a convincing five wicket win at home to Pontblyddyn.

The Quay is normally a batsman's paradise but it was the bowlers on top as 15 wickets fell for just 220 runs.

Pont were put into bat by Quay skipper Gavin Parry and slumped to 9-4 as Chris Moss, Ben Mason, Chris Myles and Glenn Chambers all fell cheaply, Ryan Holloway's 2-33 doing the damage along with Thyler Argoon (2-15).

Ali Roberts' 30 and 33 from Julian Morris at least gave Pont something to bowl at, but Martin Burger plugged away to claim 3-35 before David Fox finished things off with 2-2 off just five balls as Pont were all out 108.

Pont's Aussie professional Brad Aldous removed David Powell for a duck but Holloway (15) and Fox (29) then put on 58 to ease any worries for the hosts.

Darren Leach's 15 and an unbeaten 30 for Burger guided Quay home and they remain top of the table after reaching 110-5.

Chambers claimed 3-40 for Pont while Kevin Owen took 1-13.

Several games were lost due to Friday's torrential rain, with Brymbo's trip to Denbigh called off the night before.

Northop were forced to cancel their clash with St Asaph while Hawarden Park were also unable to get their game at Bangor on.

Menai Bridge crushed Mochdre by nine wickets, as Ashley Wood took 4-12 to bowl Mochdre out for just 100 in 34.5 overs.

Dion Holden then cracked an unbeaten 58 as Bridge cruised to their target in just 26 overs.

Buckley moved into second place in Division One - just one point behind leaders Llay - after a six wickets win against Marchwiel/Wrexham.

Opener Anthony Morris top scored with 36 for Marchwiel and Chris Woodcock added 23 as they were skittled for 94.

Adam Shaw (4-23), Lee Taylor (3-20) and Simon Nicholls (2-23) did the damage with the ball before Gareth Fox (21) and Paul Rambaldi (20 not out) took Buckley to 95 for four, Phil Oddie taking 2-20.

Carmel and District suffered a 30 runs defeat in Division Two at Abergele, despite having Daniel Owens (31) top score in their reply of 106 for 9 off 40 overs.

Abergele had earlier posted 136 for 5 off 40 overs, thanks mainly to opener Ben Garnett (53), and Edward Rooney (25 not out).

Gresford seconds celebrated a 101 runs home victory against Brymbo seconds.

Matthew Thompson (49) and George Morris (34) starred for Gresford who made 146 all out after 39.3 overs, with Wayne Smith and Andrew Patterson taking three wickets apiece for the visitors.

Brymbo were skittled all out for 45 in reply thanks to Gresford’s Danny Griffin (4-18 off 12 overs) and Matt Daulby (3-2 off 4.2 overs).
