Division Two pacesetters Chirk made it two wins from two with a comprehensive 98-run triumph over Hawarden Park 2nds.

Nick Flack and Shaun Walker both struck 22, while 13-year-old number nine Wyn Jones top scored with 28 as Chirk were bowled out for 165.

Bala Subramanian (3-37), Nathan Pearson (2-14) and captain Adam Cross (3-32) produce the goods with the ball for Hawarden, but there was less to celebrate with the bat for the visitors.

Only Pearson (18) reached double figures as Hawarden were skittled for just 67, Andrew Swarbrick (4-22), Flack (3-15) and Ross Litchfield-Briscoe (2-11) doing the bulk of the damage.

Dafydd Timothy rolled back the years to pocket an outstanding 6-7 from 10 overs in Carmel and District’s eight-wicket win over Ruthin.

Timothy, in tandem with Andrew Lund (3-30), ripped through the order as Ruthin were bowled out for 49 inside 26 overs.

Despite the two early dismissals, Carmel cruised to victory inside 14 overs thanks to Dafydd Bailey (23 not out) and Danuska Fernando (15no).

Pontblyddyn 2nds got their season up and running with a 51-run success against visiting Brymbo 2nds.

Alex Rollinson claimed 3-46 for Brymbo, but Pontblyddyn managed to reach 181-6 from their 45 overs thanks to an unbeaten half century from Mark Hughes and important contributions from opening duo James Griffiths (38) and Chris Myles (36).

In reply, Ross Roberts struck a 19-ball 30, although he soon went as Ryan White (4-38), Daniel Shaw (3-13) and James Hughes (3-42) helped bowl away side Brymbo out for just 130.

Halkyn’s impressive start to the season continued as they overcame the challenge of Gresford 2nds by five wickets.

Openers Craig Morse (59) and Matthew Thompson (30) were in the runs as Gresford posted 189-8, Graeme Settle and the experienced John Gaskell sharing six of the wickets to fall.

Number four Alex North was the star of the Halkyn innings as he struck 90 from 85 balls, while Timothy Davies (46) was also in the runs as Halkyn eased home.

Paul Kearney and Matthew Blunden stole the show as Mynydd Isa climbed to the top of Division Three with a 131-run over Bodedern.

Kearney struck a superb 127 not out to take the plaudits as Isa posted 252-2 from just 40 overs, which included a 151-run partnership with captain Chris Geary (79).

It was Blunden’s chance to shine after the tea interval as he claimed 4-14, including a hat-trick, as Bodedern’s innings ended on 121, Daniel Sprake pocketing 3-32.

Connah’s Quay 2nds started their campaign on a winning note as they came away from Denbigh 2nds with an 108-run success.

Thomas Hooson (71) and Jack Collo (65) were the main run scorers as Quay struck 191-7 from 30 overs after winning the toss.

Jack Griffiths (4-11) and Danny Graham (3-24) then combined to bowl Denbigh out for just 83.

Gwersyllt Park needed just 39 overs to open their season with a 10-wicket triumph over Bangor 2nds.

Nine-man Bangor, poised at 51-1, slumped to 86 all out with Dale Jones (4-20) and Lee Beer (3-2) combining impressively.

And openers Ian Pearson (41no) and Rhys Ryder (31no) raced to the winning post inside 13 overs.

All-rounder Pearson capped off victory in emphatic fashion as he lofted a six to hand Gwersyllt the victory.

An impressive all-round performance enabled Shotton to make it two wins from two with a 33-run victory over Llay Welfare 2nds.

Tom and Jack Parry claimed two wickets apiece, but Flintshire outfit Shotton managed to total 198-6, Antonio Carrino (58), Luke Bennett (40no), Chris Hinton (40) and Peter Hinton (39) all amongst the runs.

Llay openers David Wright (35) and Huw Jones (31) offered some resistance to the Shotton attack, but Simon Harris (3-39) and Bryn Owen (2-36) slowed the run rate and the visitors finished on 165-7.

Bala missed the chance to get a victory under their belts as their scheduled home encounter with Llanrwst 2nds was cancelled due to the heavy rain.

Tom Hall’s brilliant 129 went largely without reward as Tata Steel Maeshafn and Marchwiel and Wrexham 2nds played out an entertaining tie in Division Four.

Hall’s century helped Maeshafn to 228-7 despite 4-62 from Sion Edwards, but it wasn’t sufficient to hand the visiting side victory.

Neal Wellens (55), Chris Hemmings (42), Darren Bettis (40) and Chris Pritchard (34) were all in the runs as Marchwiel ended their 40 overs on 228-8, Will Webster claiming 3-51.

Derek Johnson bagged 6-14 from 12 impressive overs as Carmel and District 2nds cruised to a 154-run victory over Pwllheli 2nds.

Johnson, who had top scored alongside James Roberts with 43 in Carmel’s 187-5, made sure that Pwllheli were blown away for just 33.

Mold 2nds started the season with a win, but it was not the type they would have wanted as St Asaph 2nds were forced to concede after being unable to raise a team.

Castell Alun produced another efficient team performance to beat Corwen by nine wickets and climb to the top of Division Five.

Gareth Matthews (4-9), Miles Gillespie (3-15) and Dylan Green (2-16) combined impressively as a young Corwen outfit were bowled out for just 72.

And Castell Alun wasted little time in easing their way to 73-1, Julian Plunkett (23no) and Simon Brooman (21no) seeing their side home inside 26 overs.
