Usman Butt insists Mold must focus on their own performance to stand any chance of escaping relegation.

Mold slumped to the foot of the Premier Division following an eight-wicket defeat to Connah’s Quay, which took just 38.3 overs.

But with Mold just three points from safety heading into tomorrow’s final game of the season against out of form St Asaph, all is not lost.

“We are quite confident of beating St Asaph,” explained captain Butt. “We beat them at the start of the season so we know we have the quality.

“We need to put in a strong performance, we can’t slip up, and if we do then we deserve to go down.

“We can’t focus on other teams losing, we need to do our bit by winning and see where that leaves us.”

Mold could do with a favour from Brymbo, who head to third from bottom Pwllheli, however, Butt adding: “We want Brymbo to win now and Llanrwst to lose (to Pontblyddyn).”

Middle order batsman Stewart Roberts misses out for Mold, who will be boosted by the news that Brymbo are setting their sights on another resounding win tomorrow.

While not mathematically safe from relegation, it would take a freak set of results for Brymbo to finish inside the bottom two come 8pm tomorrow evening.

With that in mind, captain Joss Roberts and his team are chasing a fourth consecutive 15-0 victory and a sixth-placed finish.

“During the last few weeks we have really shown what a team we can be,” said Roberts, who names an unchanged team once more. “I’ve always said the potential in our squad is enormous, three weeks ago we were at the bottom of the table.

“We’ve all pulled our fingers out and realised that we don’t want to relive last year’s frantic end of season.

“Instead we’ve shown our character and we now go into the final game of the season looking to beat Llandudno to sixth place.”

Ian Martin will take over the Hawarden Park captaincy as the Flintshire outfit target Premier Division safety at Bangor.

Hawarden are far from safe heading into the final weekend of the campaign having suffered back-to-back 15-0 defeats to Brymbo and Menai Bridge.

Those heavy losses have left Hawarden just 10 points above second from bottom Llanrwst ahead of a trip to Blake Dean-inspired Bangor.

Martin replaces Tom Ducker, who is handing over the reigns to concentrate on scoring the runs needed to lead Hawarden to victory, and the all-rounder is targeting a positive finish.

“We needed to try something different after two big defeats,” said Martin. “Hopefully the switch can spark us into life.”

On the decision, Ducker added: “It has been a tough few weeks and it will be nice to concentrate purely on playing my game.”

Hawarden are expected to name a similar team to the one thrashed by Menai Bridge last weekend.

There is a question mark over who will keep wicket after Adam Doyle, David Hughes and Chris Cousens, who ended up with a dislocated finger, all took the gloves last Saturday.

Captain Gavin Parry believes a second placed finish would represent an impressive campaign for Connah’s Quay.

A home win against third placed Mochdre would secure the runners-up for Quay, who lost out on the title to Menai Bridge.

Pointing to the fact that Quay have only lost one more game than the six they failed to win during their 2011 title win, Parry said: “When you look at the statistics it has not been a bad season on the whole.

“If we only lose one more game than when we won the title we have to be happy with finishing second.”

Spinner Rob Bennett misses out on the final game of the season for Quay, Parry adding: “We know the target. If we win the game we finish second.”

Pontblyddyn will only finish second if Mochdre beat Connah’s Quay and pick up 11 points, while Jeff Lituri’s men win 15-0 against struggling Llanrwst.

The team of the season, Menai Bridge finish their title winning campaign against former champions Llandudno.
