Chester will come up against former transfer target Jason Oswell when they host Morecambe on Tuesday night in pre-season (7.45pm kick-off).

The 25-year-old attracted the attentions of several clubs this summer after a prolific spell with Stockport County, netting 25 goals, with Chesterfield, Port Vale and Wrexham all expressing an interest in the former Newtown forward.

Blues bosses Bernard Morley and Anthony Johnson made Oswell aware of their interest, with the option part-time football, but the striker made his intentions clear that he wished to play full-time football and made the move to the League Two outfit.

The Shrimpers will pose another good test for Chester after Saturday’s 1-0 defeat against Bury, which followed a 4-0 victory over Llandudno on Friday night.

Jim Bentley’s side are Chester’s penultimate opponents in pre-season, with Everton Under-23s the visitors to the Swansway Chester Stadium on Saturday (3pm).

The National League North campaign kicks off a week on Saturday (August 4) with a home clash against Spennymoor Town before a trip to Curzon Ashton 48 hours later on Monday, August 6 (7.45pm).
