Morecambe have signed Stockport County forward Jason Oswell, who had been a target for both Chester and Wrexham.

County's player of the year bagged 29 goals in 47 matches last season in National League North, and the former Newtown striker has penned a two-year deal with the Shrimpers.

The 25-year-old spoke to Chester about a possible move to the Deva, with Blues management duo Bernard Morley and Anthony Johnson offering Oswell the chance to join them if he wanted to remain part-time.

However, Oswell stated his desire to play full-time football and has opted for a move to League Two, having attracted interest from Wrexham and Port Vale.

"He's proven to be a top goalscorer and now with full-time football we are confident he will do it at Football League level," Morecambe manager Jim Bentley told their club website.
