Chester ended their five-year National League stint with a 2-1 win at Barrow on the final day of the season.

Here's how the Blues players rated at Holker Street:

ANDY FIRTH: Several smart stops and showed great bravery when taken out by Diarra. 7

MATTHEW THOMSON: Learned a great deal from a shaky debut last week and worked his socks off. 7

JAMES JONES: Shows maturity way beyond his years and another fine showing. 7

RYAN ASTLES: Loves to win tackles and headers. Will be sorely missed if he moves on this summer. 6

MYLES ANDERSON: Deployed on the left-side of the central defensive trio and it’s much his best position. Vastly improved. 7

JORDAN GOUGH: Solid performer who would surely have played a lot more if he’d been fit. 6

TOM CRAWFORD: Dictated play in midfield and kept the Blues ticking at a good tempo. Excellent prospect. 8

ANDY HALLS: Another solid display in midfield from the converted full-back. Will be a shame if he must leave. 8

CRAIG MAHON: Has looked dangerous in recent weeks and again was a threat on the right wing. 6

JAMES AKINTUNDE: Bags of skill and has an excellent touch for this level. Another to have improved in recent weeks. 7

JORDAN ARCHER: Took his goal well and looked a physically threat throughout, giving the centre-halves a headache. 7

Substitutions

NATHAN BROWN: Added pace and trickery to the attack. 7

HARRY WHITE: Only got a few minutes but acquitted himself well. 6

Barrow: Arnold 7, MacDonald 6 (Waterston 80), Diagne 6, Diarra 5, Hall 5, Walters 5, Jones 7 (Fitzpatrick 85), Gomis 5, White 5, Holt 4 (Panayiotou 80), James 6; Subs: Dixon, Cook.
