THE New Saints captain Steve Evans says his side will be looking to keep up the pressure on second place Llanelli as they travel to GAP Connahs Quay (Friday, 7.30pm).

TNS are currently top of the Welsh Premier, two points ahead of Llanelli, having played a game more.

Evans said the squad are confident of maintaining their good run, with the Saints now unbeaten in 15.

He said: “We’re on a good run at the moment, so we’ve just got to keep taking each game at a time and the more points we can get the better. We’ve played a game more but I’d rather have the points on the board than the game in hand.”
He added: “We’ve just got to keep the run going, confidence is high.”

However, Evans warned that the Saints will face a tough challenge from the Deesiders.

He said: “We played them near the beginning of the season and they seemed better than their league position suggests. They were dogged and we didn’t create many chances, it was only in the last 15 minutes we got the goals so it will be a tight game again.”

The Saints also have new signing, Chris Sharp available, after his transfer from Bangor, and Evans backs him to make an impact.

He said: “Chris’ goal scoring record speaks for itself so hopefully he can carry that on with us and get a few more. He adds something different to the squad and he’s a good signing.”
