SIMON ANDREWS celebrated a hat-trick in Upton AA's superb 5-1 Chester derby win against struggling Blacon Youth Club.
Andrews was joined on the scoresheet by Pat Walsh and club captain, Andy Lloyd, as Upton AA brushed aside their Division One neighbours.
Upton AA boss, Dave Wright, said: "It was a convincing result, but we could have scored nine goals.
"Blacon came at us and showed plenty of desire and commitment and they did pull a goal back to make it 2-1 midway through the second half.
"But Blacon were reduced to 10 men after having a player sent off about 12 minutes from the end.
"One of the biggest reasons for our victory was the way in which Derek Rogers adapted to his new role in a new formation by establishing a link from central defence.
"We've been through a bit of a rough patch recently and we've been committing costly mistakes. But we are now playing with a different belief and desire and I believe we're in a false league position.
"Blacon have always deserved somnething out of our previous meetings, but Saturday's result underlined the difference in our team compared to performances earlier in the season."
Wright revealed that Tom Fellows and 46-year-old Kevin Clutton both missed scoring chances towards the end of the match.
Christleton suffered a 5-3 home defeat against Heswall.
The Little Heath club boss, Graham Vile, admitted his side looked like they hadn't got out of bed.
He said: "It looked a struggle and we just didn't compete in thge first half. It looked like we hadn't got out of bed.
"We didn't keep the ball or plkay our own game, but I was without striker Danny Davies who was working, and I only had two substitutes.
"We trailed after 20 minutes after Steve Cunningham slipped and Heswall found the net with a deflected shot.
"We weren't closing Heswall down and found ourselves chasing the game, and then we found ourselves 2-0 down after 30 minutes. We were making our own errors and never looked like scoring. But then Craig Warrington and Sean O'Rourke set up Ben Carrigan to make it 2-1 five minutes before the break.
"And I was pleased to see us playing better immediately after the break with Craig Warrington firing a 30 yard free kick over the bar and Ben Carrigan seeing a goalbound shot blocked.
"Ben Carrigan then levelled matters with a shot that found the top left corner of the net.
"But we then switched off a fell 3-2 behind, before Craig Warrington made it 3-3 after good work from Danny Owens and Ben Carrigan.
"Heswall then made it 4-3 with 15 minutes left, but we had three shots stopped and cleared off the line before Heswall scored a fifth goal from the penalty spot."

CHESTER NOMADS boss John Cadwallader reflected on his side's missed opportunities in a goalless draw at Mid Cheshire League hosts Barnton.
Cadwallader provided a number of fringe players with places in the starting line-up and accused his Division Two side of showing complacency.
He said: "We hit the post with the last kick of the game and we forced the Barnton keeper into three or four good saves.
"A draw was probably a fair result in the end, but I thought we played as if we just needed to turn up and there seemed to be a lot of complacency in the way we played.
"We have to start realising when we are in a game because Barnton are a big side with a big history in the cup after winning the competition four times in the past.
"Barnton are a young and enthusiastic side and I'm expecting a difficult game against them in Saturday's replay.
"I named five or six players a chance on Saturday and they only provided mediocre performances, so I think I've now got to play my strongest side for the replay.
"But there were a few positives to take away from Saturday's game, because I thought centre half, Martin Gaulton, was outstanding, and our goalkeeper, Kevin Scanlan, made a few important saves."
