Llay Welfare skipper Dave Phennah led from the front as his side defeated Llandudno 2nds to stay top of Division One.

The leaders were dealt a blow as last week’s centurian Damian Bryan fell to a six ball duck after Llay were inserted having lost the toss.

However, Phennah struck an excellent 50 alongside a brutal knock of 80 from number three John Parry, who smacked eight sixes in his 48 ball innings.

The duo managed to get Llay to a competitive 157 all out, and this looked more than enough as Bryan removed three of the Llan top four cheaply.

Phennah also contributed with the ball, taking a superb 6-50 as Llandudno fell to 98 all out, Ajay Dhawan adding 36 to his earlier 5-14.

Gareth Rowland was the star of the day for Gresford as they put their inconsistent form behind them to beat Rhewl.

Having been selected to bat first Rhewl posted 185-9 from 48 overs, but this was never going to be enough as Rowland flexed his muscles.

Rowland fired an unbeaten 115 as Gresford reached 187-3 with plenty of time to spare.

Ben Wilcox-Jones saw his undefeated 93 go to waste as his Denbigh outfit crashed to defeat at second placed St Asaph.

Wilcox-Jones and Daniel Nixon (31) managed to drag Denbigh to a challenging total of 180-8 declared, despite Andrew Bellis claiming 3-29.

In reply, St Asaph opener Richard Partington crashed 59, while wicket keeper Joe Clayton added a valuable 61 not out as the home side reached 182-7 inside 55 overs.

Northop's batting once again let them down as Bersham came away with an excellent five wicket success.

The home side limped to 136 all out from 51 overs, before Bersham reached the winning post with just five men back in the hatch and after just 44 overs.

Marchwiel and Wrexham were denied victory by a solid batting display from hosts Pwllheli.

Pwllheli totalled 204-6 declared from 45 overs, and Marchwiel faltered in reply, settling for a losing draw after scoring 162-9.

It seems nobody can halt Halkyn's Division Two promotion charge as St Asaph 2nds became the latest side to lose out to the league leaders.

Ben Roberts (2-13), Rhyss Nash (1-8), John Gaskell (2-20), and Simon Penney (3-8) bowled brilliantly as St Asaph slumped to 72 all out.

Matthew Williams then hit a brisk 30 not out as Halkyn reached 73-2 with just 26.4 overs gone.

Northop 2nds bowlers got their batsmen out of trouble with a superb collective display with the ball against Bangor 2nds.

Only James Roberts (46) made any real headway against Bangor's bowlers as the visiting side were forced to settle for a total of 123-8.

Jack Darcy then gave Northop chance of victory with 4-27, while Harry Lewis (2-23) and Thomas Hughes (2-38) supported him brilliantly to see Bangor 133 all out.

Steve 'Scooter' Jones was in wonderful form with the ball as he took 8-17 to rip through Ruthin's batting line-up and give Carmel victory.

Barry McGaughty (50 not out) and Nick Washbrook (60 not out) had earlier led Carmel to 161-3 from 45 overs.

Jones then took over the show to leave Ruthin's reply in tatters on 100 all out.

Corwen proved too strong for bottom of the table Menai Bridge 2nds as they secured a four wicket home success.

Bridge had to settle for 147 all out having batted first, but that total was too small as Corwen reached 150 with four wickets in hand.

Matt Jackson fired a half century as Anglesey Aluminium (167) beat Dolgellau (111), while Abergele closed the gap on third placed Conwy with a 16 run triumph.

Graham Price hit 67 as Abergele posted 174-9, and Wasim Ali took 6-34 to bowl Conwy out for 158.

Paul Rambaldi crashed an excellent unbeaten 89 as Buckley upset Division Three table toppers Hawarden Park 2nds on Saturday.

The usually solid Park batting line-up struggled to post a challenging total and were forced to settle for 151 all out from 33 overs as Paul Wilbraham claimed 5-29.

Charlie Owen hit 55 and David Bond added a crucial 25 as only three Park batsmen reached double figures.

In reply, Buckley were left thanking Rambaldi as he saw them to 152-8 from 45.5 overs, Jeff Henshaw taking the game to the wire with 4-19 from 12 overs.

A Joliffe’s five wicket haul proved in vain for Shotton as they were beaten by Marchwiel and Wrexham 2nds, who move third in the table.

Paul Ankers (54) and Chris Hemmings (63) made good headway before Joliffe removed the middle order cheaply to leave Marchwiel 180 all out.

Unfortunately for Shotton they were missing inspirational skipper Gary Threadgold and slumped to 96 all out, David Jones grabbing 3-7.

Mynydd Isa suffered a batting collapse as they crashed to a six wicket loss at Bala.
Once opening duo Nigel Page and Nail Amos departed, Isa slumped from 40-1 to 91 all out as Gwyndaf Hughes bowled typically tight to take 3-16 from 12 overs.

In reply, Bala were under pressure as Chris Geary (2-19) and Amos (2-20) took early wickets, but Rhodri Edwards hit an unbeaten 45 to see the hosts to victory.

Llanrwst 2nds continued their revival with a 31 run success over fellow strugglers Brymbo 3rds.

Peter Lloyd crashed 53 for Llan as they posted a challenging 179-9 from their alloted 45 overs. And it proved enough as Brymbo lost vital wickets throughout their reply to struggle to 148-9.

Denbigh 2nds had a comfortable day against Pontblyddyn 2nds as they picked up a six wicket triumph.

Pont were rolled out for a below par 72, before Denbigh reached the winning post with just four wickets back in the hutch.

Mold 2nds showed their fighting spirit to defeat Corus Colors by 73 runs in Division Four.

The visiting side were inserted having lost the toss, and the heavy rain from the previous day made batting very difficult.

Adrian Woods and Craig Embleton used every inch of their experience to score 24 each as Mold posted a challenging 109-8.

Mold then gave Corus no chance of getting the 109 target as Jamie Ryle produced superb figures of 5-10, while Alasdair Harradine collected 3-7 and Jamie Hawkins 2-2.

Llay Welfare 2nds suffered a surprise loss at the hands of hosts Bethesda 2nds, going down to four wicket defeat.

The travelling side posted a daunting 167-8 from their 45 overs as John Humphreys hit a deserved 61.

Unfortunately for Humphreys and Llay, Gareth Griffith was in equally good form with the bat and his 58 not out combined with contributions from Ian Buchanan and Aled Jones saw Bethesda to 168-6.

Elsewhere, Connah’s Quay 2nds (186-5) made light work of Buckley 2nds (74), Mochdre 2nds (125-3) brushed past Carmel and District 2nds (122), and Abergele 2nds (154-7) beat Conwy 2nds (61).

Matthew Roberts hammered a spectacular 65 as Chirk 2nds made light work of Halkyn 2nds in Division Five.

Chirk were struggling on 26-4 before Roberts began to open his shoulders, the middle order batsman hitting six fours and four sixes as the hosts reached 121 against the odds.

In reply, Roberts added 3-5 to hit 65 runs, while Ross Morrison (3-8) and John Swarbrick (4-16) saw Halkyn skittled for just 35.

Andrew Evans 61 and Jonathon Read’s 5-19 proved enough as Bersham 2nds defeated Mochdre 3rds to stay second in the table, while Pwllheli 2nds overcame Llandundo 3rds thanks to Ceiri Rowlands 5-25.

Ruthin 2nds upset Division Six leaders Menai Bridge 3rds by romping to a 61 run victory, while Rhewl 2nds triumphed over visiting Bala 2nds by 37 runs.
