COLWYN BAY have parted company with manager Steve Evans following their relegation from the Cymru Premier League.

The Seagulls concluded their season in the top flight with a 1-0 home victory versus Barry Town United, however Aberystwyth Town’s 3-0 triumph over Pontypridd Town confirmed Colwyn Bay’s demotion back into Cymru North.

A club statement said: “This has been a very difficult decision, and not one that the board have taken lightly.

“There can never be a good time to part ways with a club but after lengthy deliberation and consideration it was decided a change is needed.

“On behalf of everyone at the club, we would like to thank Steve for his work as first team manager and wish him every success in the future.

“The club will be making no further comment until such time as a new first team manager is appointed.”

Following the win over Barry, Evans, the former Wrexham and Wales defender, told S4C’s Sgorio: “The league table doesn’t lie, does it? I can stand here and make excuses, but ultimately, in certain games, we haven’t been good enough.

“Today, I thought we were excellent, but just disappointed, because a little bit more experience I think we would have been fine this year.”
