MOLD ALEX are looking to complete part two of a three-pronged silverware attack to give departing boss Mike Cunningham the perfect send-off.

Cunningham, who has already guided Alex to glory in this season’s Cymru North Cup, is now looking forward to tomorrow’s all-Wales final.

Mold will travel to Newtown’s Latham Park to tackle Cymru South double-winners Briton Ferry Llansawel.

Cunningham has announced that he will be stepping down as manager at the end of the current campaign and he is also hunting down potential silverware in the North East Wales FA Challenge Cup.

In a statement on the club’s Facebook page, Cunningham said: “The seven-or-eight years I have spent at this wonderful football club have been nothing short of remarkable.

“A few tough years to start off with but with the committee sticking by me and supporting me, we have been able to go on and make some wonderful memories that will stay with me for a lifetime and (I’ve) made friendships that I will cherish forever.

“My ambition when I took over was to get this club back to where it belongs and after this season, I feel this is now job complete.

“To all our supporters when I first took over, we had crowds of 60/70. We now have average crowds of 200 each home game.

“To be able to bring so much joy to faces... fills me with so much pride.

“Please continue your support. This club, it needs and deserves it! I miss every single one of you, even those who doubted us!

“To the players, I don’t even know where to start. The memories we have created together can never be taken away.

“You will never find a more hard-working group of honest individuals.

“Loyalty is the hardest thing in football and these boys have stuck by me and the club.

“Some move on, that’s life, but the effort every single one has given me when pulling on that shirt has been remarkable and you have all played your part. Some more soppy stuff in a few weeks but first we have a few more games to win!”

Mold reached tomorrow’s national showdown courtesy of their 3-1 win over Llandudno in the Cymru North Cup final.

Goals from Alex Smith, Jake Roberts and Eric Durnell secured glory for Mold, on a day darting sensation Luke Littler was also in attendance at Denbigh Town’s Central Park ground.

Meanwhile, it was also 3-1 in the Cymru South Cup final as Briton Ferry Llansawel got the better of Llanelli Town.

Josh Bull, Luke Bowen and Tyler Brock were on the scoresheet for this season’s Cymru South champions.

It’s not the only final taking place in Newtown tomorrow as Penrhyncoch tackle Newport City as a prequel to the big event.

Penrhyncoch, runaway leaders in the Ardal North East League, will look to top scorer Dion Phillips to fire them to glory in mid-Wales.

In the North East Wales FA Reserves Cup, Flint Mountain beat Penyffordd Lions 3-1 to set up a final date with Ruthin Town.

Tom Harrison (2) and Wayne Edwards got the goals with Matthew Holmes replying.
