CEFN ALBION coach Ian Andrews has described this season’s fixture backlog as ‘a joke’ and has called on football’s powers-that-be to allow clubs to use 4G school pitches to alleviate the problem.

“It’s becoming a bit of a joke now and the games are stacking up,” said Andrews ahead of tomorrow’s North East League clash at home to Dolgellau.

“We’ve got eight games left to play and league was supposed to finish on May 11. We will now be playing for another two weeks at least.

“We should be allowed to use the local 4G facilities on offer to get these games played.

“It’s not like we get crowds in the hundreds at this level but the powers that be won’t let it happen.”

Speaking before Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with Llangollen Town, Andrews added: “They need to look at different possibilities as our last three games were postponed due to waterlogged pitches.”

Cefn needed a late leveller from Curtis Griffiths in midweek after Will Cooke had given Llangollen, who had Gwilym Keddie sent off in stoppage-time, the lead.

Llangollen host Rhos Aelwyd in tomorrow’s derby and Town boss Luke Maybury said: “If you would have offered two draws before facing Bow Street and Albion, we probably would have taken it.

“But after conceding two late goals, it does hurt a little!

“One point would ensure safety again, but there is a good feeling in the group.

“On a five-game unbeaten run, we really want to finish the season strongly.”

Rhos boss Gareth Jones said: “We’re really looking forward to the game at Llangollen.

“We hope to continue our resilient run of form and build on the five clean sheets in seven games.

“It should be a good game given their rise in fortunes and competitive edge also.

“Our aim is to remain unbeaten in these last remaining fixtures.”
