A teenager has claimed her first national title after taking part in a Welsh running competition.

Rheagan Edwards, a year nine pupil at St Richard Gwyn Catholic High School in Flint, took part in the Welsh Athletics Championships at Cardiff International Sports Arena.

The 14-year-old, running at her preferred distance of 3,000 metres, took her first national title to become Welsh Champion with a time of 10:39.

Paul Heitzman, headteacher of St Richard Gwyn, said: “Once again we are delighted with and very proud of Rheagan’s wonderful achievements.”
