NEIL YOUNG was delighted to see his team move within two points of top spot in the Conference North league table.
Young, celebrating his 38th birthday and his 100th league game at the helm, watched the Blues grab a 1-0 victory at Gloucester City courtesy of a Nathan Jarman goal.
“There was a lot of soul searching after our 2-0 defeat on Wednesday night at Worksop in the FA Trophy,” Young admitted.
“But I told the players in training on Saturday that our season starts from here and I was so pleased to see them respond.
“I thought we could have been 2-0 or 3-0 up in the first half because their goalkeeper made some good saves. We hit the woodwork and we cut them open, and we looked absolutely tremendous.
“We got the ball down and played and Antoni Sarcevic was allowed to play a lot higher up the pitch.
“Craig Curran played well and Nathan Jarman worked well down the middle and took his goal well. I just thought our general play was so good.”
