CEFN DRUIDS climbed to the top of the Welsh Premier Development League table courtesy of a 3-1 success at Flint Town United.

With Connah's Quay Nomads only drawing at home to Airbus, Druids took full advantage to open up a two-point lead at the top.

Lewis George, who is on the fringes of the first team reckoning, struck twice with Cameron James netting the Ancients' third to leave manager Shaun Colley satisfied.

Colley tweeted: "Not a classic but three points to take forward. Players stuck in there and we managed to get over the line."

Rick Chapman hailed the 'unbelievable heart' of his 10-man Airbus after they rescued a point against Flintshire rivals Connah's Quay Nomads.

Trailing 2-1 and with a man less after Luke Jones was sent-off, the Chapman's side struck in the 93rd minute through Kai Hardcastle to earn a share of the spoils.

Jones had given Airbus a first-half lead, but Nomads turned the game on its head through goals from Dominic McHugh and Tom Weir, who converted a penalty.

But Airbus were not to be beaten as Hardcastle struck to leave Chapman proud of his side's character.

Chapman said: "We started the game very well, on another day we would’ve been out of sight at half time, but if you don’t take your chances against top teams like Nomads you will get punished.

"At 2-1 down with 10-men you fear the worse against Nomads, but the heart the lads showed to pull it level right at the death was unbelievable.

"For us it feels like a win, the spirit in the group is so high at the moment, we just can’t wait to go again next week."

Nomads boss Iain Bennett was pleased with his side's second-half showing, admitting that a point apiece was fair based on the game as a whole.

Bennett said: "First-half we were nowhere near where we need to be. Airbus came here with a game plan and a really good attitude. They are organised and they are big boys, but they can play and they caused us problems in the first-half.

"It was a constructive chat at half time and everyone will agree we were miles better and deservedly went 2-1 up, but a 2-2 draw in the end was a fair result, even if how it happened was a little bit painful."
