NORTHOP HALL have signalled their intent to make an impression on Division One of the Liverpool Competition with the signing of former Bangladesh international Enamul Haque jnr.

Haque sits second on the list Bangladesh first-class wicket takers with over 400, which includes 44 Test victims, the first of which was ex-England opener Marcus Trescothick.

The left-arm spinner played 15 Tests and 10 One-Day Internationals for Bangladesh, which included 7-95 - and the final wicket - in his country's inaugural five-day success over Zimbabwe in 2005.

Haque, now 31, added 5-105 in the second innings to finish with figures of 12-200 and become the youngest ever player to take 10 wickets in a Test - a record he still holds - knocking Pakistan great Wasim Akram off top spot.

Hall director of cricket Dave Kennedy was rightly thrilled with the signing of Haque, who will complement the likes of seamer Dan Clubbe and off-spinner James Hurlin.

"Northop Hall haven’t rested on their laurels having been promoted to Division One without the aid of a professional," said Kennedy, who captained the Flintshire side to promotion this year. "As director of cricket, I was keen to bolster the young first team squad with some quality and experience.

"We are pleased to announce the signing of Enamul Haque Jnr as professional for 2019 season.

"A quality left-arm spinner he boasts the second most first class wickets ever taken in Bangladeshi history.

"His experience of having played both ODI level and Test level, where he took 44 wickets, is seen as a perfect fit at Northop Hall".

"We would like to express thanks to Steven Hirst who worked patiently and tirelessly to find the ideal candidate suited to the club. All at Northop Hall look forward to welcoming Enamul to the club and are excited at such a high profile signing".
