Runaway league leaders Airbus made it a perfect 10 as they clinched a 2-0 home victory over stubborn visitors Penrhyncoch.

Steve O’Shaughnessy's side now boast a commanding 12-point lead at the summit as their imperious campaign continued with a 10th successive league win.

Goals in each half from Brady McGilloway and Leo Riley secured the result, which saw the Flintshire club record their sixth clean sheet of the season.

After dominating possession in the opening exchanges, Airbus could have gone behind early on when Liam James' cross was met with a firm downward header from Josh Shaw, drawing a smart save from home keeper Dave Roberts.

The hosts went ahead soon after on 13 minutes when debutant striker Joe Chaplin saw his powerful drive parried by Penrhyncoch stopper Oliver Fairbrother, with McGilloway slotting home the rebound.

Airbus continued to threaten for the remainder of the half, with Chaplin spurning a decent chance to double the lead when he fired into the side netting after a neat through-ball from Matty McGinn.

A second goal duly arrived eight minutes after the restart when Riley bent a brilliant free kick over the wall and into the bottom corner from 20 yards.

The winning margin could have been more convincing, but Chaplin was thwarted by a brilliant save from Fairbrother and Joe Palmer's goalbound effort as cleared off the line.

Airbus assistant manager Andy Thomas insists the victory has upped the pressure on their title rivals.

He said: "This winning run we're on just keeps building the pressure on the teams around us. With other teams' game being postponed at the weekend, we've made the gap between ourselves and them even bigger.

"They're playing catch-up now, so all we're concerned about is ensuring that we're focused and prepared for picking up three points from every game this season."

An injury-time winner from Rhyl's Liam Nash condemned Holywell Town to their sixth defeat of the season in a 3-2 reverse at Halkyn Road.

The lead stood until the 43rd minute when Liam Smith drew the sides level with defelcted effort.

Rhyl then seized the initiative after the break when James Murphy's superb free-kick nestled in the bottom corner on 53 minutes.

The lead was shortlived, however, as debutant Zebb Edwards restored parity as he slotted home from 12 yards out.

The game took on an ebb-and-flow feel as both sides pushed for a winner, with Rhyl snatching the points at the death when Wellmen keeper Andy Metcalf dropped a cross under pressure and leaving Nash with a tap-in from close range.

Wellmen boss John Haseldin said: It was a gutting way to lose the game in the circustances, but we have to try to take the positives from it.

"There were a lot of good performances, from what is largely a new group of players, and I felt we deserved at least a point from the game.

"We had a good crowd there with a lot of old faces coming back and I know they've seen an improvement from where we were a few weeks ago.

"A few decision haven't gone our way, particularly their third goal, which nine times out 10 are disallowed, but Andy's not been given that same protection for some reason."

Steve Halliwell admitted he was relieved as his Gresford Athletic side came away with an 'ugly' 2-1 home win over Prestatyn Town.

Buoyed by the return of manager Neil Gibson, the struggling Seasiders duly raised their game with Halliwell admitting his side were fortunate to claim all three points after a second half tactical switch backfired.

The Colliers took a fourth minute lead when Simon Smith finished clinically after Prestatyn's defence ceded possession.

In control for much of the half, the hosts doubled their lead on 35 minutes when Sam Molyneux reacted quickest to a scramble in the Prestatyn box and fired home.

Gibson's Town side emerged with renewed purpose after the break with Macauley Taylor twice denied by fine saves from Gresford keeper Ben Jones.

But Jones was powerless to stop Oli Buckley's smart finish into the corner on 70 minutes after sustained Tow pressure.

Buckley then struck the post with another effort 10 minutes later as Gresford's defnce withstood a late barrage from the visitors to seal a narrow victory.

Halliwell said: "We should have been three or four up by half-time based on the chances we created, because we were well on top.

"Switching from a 3-5-2 to a back four was the wrong move as it just seemed to invite pressure as they found much more space to exploit.

"But we knew it would be a tough game with what's happened at Prestatyn of late, so we have to be satisfied with an ugly win in the circumstances."

Buckley Town boss Dan Moore said a 3-3 draw at Holyhead Hotspur was 'hard to take' after seeing his side squander a two-goal lead.

Town climbed to third in the table and stretched their unbeaten run to six league games, but were left to rue a late Hotspur leveller in the clash.

In blustery conditions on Anglesey, Town made a bright start with Phil Molyneux's third minute strike followed up by a Josh Jones effort to put them 2-0 up.

Hotspur hit back five minutes before the interval via John Littlemore's well-placed finish to give the hosts hope.

They were level soon after the restart when Luke McGivern found the net, but Adam Eden restored Buckley's lead on 70 minutes.

The hosts pushed hard for an equaliser, with Mark Evans slotting home on 88 minutes to salvage a point.

Moore said: "We're disappointed not to pick up three points. After leading the game twice it was very hard to take.

"We dealt with the conditions pretty well, but two individual errors have cost us two goals and there’s not much we can do about that.

We’re pleased to extend our unbeaten league run and move up to third, but it could and should have been more.

"Fair play to Holyhead who kept going, but we’ve really let them back in rather than them forcing their way into the game in my opinion."
