STUART J JONES joked that Bala Town are good for television viewing figures after an entertaining 3-2 home win over Newtown.

But the experienced central defender knows they need to tighten up at the back to challenge at the top end of the Welsh Premier League table.

Chris Venables twice put Bala in-front, the second from the spot, but Newtown hit back through Steve Leslie's spot-kick and Luke Boundford despite seeing Craig Williams sent-off.

But Bala were able to snatch all three points in the fourth minute of time added on as Joe Kenton put through his own net.

Jones was pleased to get the three points, but stressed the need for the Lakesiders, who are up to fourth in the table, to tighten up at the back.

"We are always here to entertain, it must be good for the viewers on Sgorio," said Jones.

"But we've got to stop conceding goals, it's stupid that we concede two or three every time.

"It's stupid mistakes, one little mistake and it seems to be in.

"If we get that sorted we can push on."

Robins boss Chris Hughes insisted that defeat was "gut wrenching" but is confident of bouncing back.

He told the club's official website: “It isn’t all doom and gloom, we ran a really top side close tonight and deserved a point.

“We will take positives, despite it being gut wrenching.

“We have bounced back before and will do it again.

“Things like this happens in football, we have our goals and there will be bumps in the road.

“But we need to bounce back and we will.”

Barry Town United are just two points off top spot after they won 1-0 against Carmarthen Town, Chris Hugh scoring the decisive goal.

Harry Owen and Eliot Evans scored late on as Cardiff Met won 2-0 at basement outfit Llanelli, while Aberystwyth and Caernarfon, who had Noah Edwards sent-off, played out a goalless draw.
