DAN MOORE hailed the collective efforts of Buckley Town's players, staff and volunteers after he was presented with the Cymru Alliance manager of the month award.

The Town boss oversaw a five-game unbeaten league run in September as his newly-promoted side climbed to fourth in the table.

Reflecting on the award, Moore is adamant that he is not solely responsible for the club's impressive return to the division.

He said: "It's great to be the recipient of this kind of recognition, but I'm just a cog in the wheel at this club.

"The success we've had at the start of the season just illustrates how much hard work goes on behind the scenes here to allow our first team to perform.

"The officials and the volunteers at work behind the scenes do so much unseen work, which provides the platform for the players to go out and produce for this club. They're all as deserving of the award as I am."

Now in his third season as manager, Moore has steered the club back into the Welsh second tier, winning the Welsh National League title just a season after their 2016/17 relegation.

Having made a seamless transition back to the Alliance, Moore believes his club are reaping the rewards of attracting quality local players to their set-up.

"This club was relegated a year and a half ago and it's taken a lot of effort to get us back into this division", he added.

"To us it's not a surprise that we've started as well as we have this season.

"We've kept the majority of the players we had here last season and almost all of them are local lads who live within five minutes of the ground.

"The financial rewards aren't big at this level of football, so when players have that local connection with a club it brings unity and can be a big asset for a manager.

"There are joint goals and it feels like everyone's buying into trying to bring success here."
