ANDY MORRISON saluted a job well done as Connah's Quay Nomads exposed Llandudno's weaknesses to run out commanding 4-0 winners.

Morrison hatched a plan to exploit former players Mike Pearson and Kai Edwards in order to cause Llandudno problems, and it worked out perfectly.

Midfielder Callum Morris bagged a hat-trick, including two penalties, after Michael Wilde had opened the scoring to send Nomads, who finished with 10-men after Danny Holmes saw red, home happy.

A delighted Morrison said: "I say this with the upmost respect. I've had Kai and Peo - Peo has worked for me for five years - and they are the two best number sixes in this league by far.

"When I say number six, your old fashioned number five was your big centre-half like George Horan, like me, and then you had someone quick and clever to play around you and they are the two best at that.

"But, on the other side of it, to have to deal with Mike Wilde and Andy Owens for 90 minutes is very, very difficult and we targeted second phases and we picked up so many balls.

"We knew if we picked up balls off those two and we had possession, we could then feed Wignall and it's very difficult for them to get doubled up on him.

"You come up with these plans in football and these fantastic ideas about how it's all going to go and it very rarely happens that way, but today was one of those days where things fell for us."

Morrison revealed extra motivation heading into Saturday night's televised match came from losing Edwards and Pearson to Llandudno in the summer.

He continued: "I knew how difficult this game was going to be because I knew of the emotions around it.

"I lost two of my key players and it was purely down to finance that I lost them to Llandudno, so there was an edge to the game.

"I like that, I've had that edge all week, those bubbling demons and that is when I am at my best."

Nomads managed to score four time to close the gap on leaders The New Saints to just one point, but Morrison knows the margin of victory could have been even greater.

He said: "It was a clean sheet and we've not just won the game 4-0, we've absolutely dominated and schooled them for 90 minutes.

"On a really ruthless night you are looking six, seven or eight goals because that's as on the front foot as we've been.

"We were incredibly brave to go three versus three at the back and allow us to get our two most dangerous players high up the pitch against their full-backs.

"We were very, very good and the most pleasing thing is the clean sheet."

Bala Town did Nomads a favour by holding Saints to a goalless draw at Park Hall, while Cardiff Met surrendered a one-goal lead to lose 2-1 at Newtown.

Alex Fletcher and Neil Mitchell struck to cancel out Sam Snaith's opener for Met.
