LLANDUDNO Amateurs extended their perfect start to the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division season with a 6-1 home victory over Rhuddlan Town.

The title fancies made a strong start and opened the scoring on three minutes when Matty Chapman found the net, but Wayne Edwards Hughes’ side responded well to the setback and levelled matters after ten through Ian Davenport.

That was as good as it got for the visitors, who fell behind again on 25 minutes when Azz Rogers finished well, and prolific forward Steve Kirk doubled their advantage with 35 gone.

After the break saw Rogers notch his second of the contest on 65 minutes to all-but seal the points, and a late brace from Scott Court put the exclamation point on proceedings and give them a third consecutive victory since joining the league after a title-winning campaign last term Llansannan continue to head the early standings after a sensational late 2-1 home win over Cerrigydrudion.

Things looked bleak for Gari Evans’ men when Dyfed Baldry gave the away side a shock lead on 65 minutes, but the championship contenders picked up a dramatic three points with two goals in the final seven minutes from veteran forward Geraint Jones and Adam Gage.

A solitary effort from James Corey after 40 minutes was enough to give Llanfairfechan Town a hard-fought 1-0 success at Abergele, with Llion Morris’ outstanding strike securing a point for Bro Cernyw in their 1-1 home stalemate against Old Colwyn.
