LLANDUDNO manager Iwan Williams said his side are brimming with confidence as they go in search of their third JD Welsh Premier League victory in succession this weekend.

The in-form side welcome Connah’s Quay Nomads to the Giant Hospitality Stadium on Saturday night in front of the S4C Sgorio cameras (7.30pm), and Williams has praised his talented new-look squad for their commitment to recover from a disappointing start.

They come into the game riding on the crest of a wave thanks to victories at home to Barry Town United and last weekend’s fine success at Cardiff Met.

He said: “We have trained fantastically well and the morale within the changing room is brilliant.

“It’s been a great response but we never pushed the panic button. We knew within our changing room that that elusive first win was only a matter of time. We’ve shown two different sides to us in the last two games.

“Against Barry we were excellent with the ball and against Cardiff Met we were dogged and good without the ball. We’ve got the second-best defensive record in the league and we’re beginning to score goals, so it’s imperative we keep building.”

Despite their positive run of results, Williams is under no illusions as to the size of the task awaiting his side this weekend, with the Nomads boasting a formidable squad despite losing new Tudno signings Kai Edwards and Mike Pearson this summer.

“This is one of our biggest tests yet without a shadow of a doubt. The resources they have are phenomenal,” added Williams.

“People tend to forget that they have 14 players who are full time professionals whom train on a daily basis, and collectively have twenty experienced players to choose from.

“They have a fantastic manager in Andy Morrison whose success speaks for itself. They should be beating everyone apart from TNS and knowing Andy’s desire, he will be disappointed with losing the two games he has thus far.

“We, however, have trained fantastically well and the morale within the changing room is brilliant and no doubt this will be our toughest challenge yet, but we’re hoping to cause an upset.”
