THE promotion of Cheltenham back to Premier One in the West of England Premier League (WEPL) has been formally approved, along with confirmation of all ups and downs throughout the seven-division cross-county competition, writes Steve Hill.

Cheltenham, who won (Tier Two) Premier Two Glos/Wilts, now prepare for trips next to summer to teams such as champions Clevedon, Bath and Bridgwater, along with Lansdown who were promoted after clinching the Premier Two Bristol/Somerset silverware on the other side of the pyramid structure.

Frocester, the 2014 and 2015 champions, drop down from Premier One to Premier Two Glos/Wilts. One of the knock-on effects of this relegation is that Frocester 2nds, the champions of the (Tier Three) Gloucestershire Division cannot be promoted into the same division, handing elevation instead to runners-up Stroud.

Lechlade, who were unable to complete their final four matches of the season in Premier Two Glos/Wilts, drop out of WEPL while Cheltenham 2nds and Kingsholm return to the Greene King IPA Gloucestershire County League to be replaced by Painswick and Corse & Staunton.

Winterbourne, the champions of the (Tier Three) Bristol & North Somerset division, go up to Premier Two Bristol/Somerset along with North Perrott, the winners of the Somerset division.

Three sides – Frenchay, Bristol West Indian Phoenix and Timsbury – are promoted to Bristol & North Somerset from the Bristol & District League.

Thornbury 2nds along with Gloucester AIW Sports, who last week also lifted the Stuart Canvas Gloucestershire Trophy, are elevated from Division Two to Division One.

Coming into Division Seven of the County League are Whitminster and Tormarton (Stroud League), Westbury-on-Severn II (Cheltenham/Gloucester and Forest of Dean League) and Poulton II (Cotswold League).
