Malmesbury Victoria manager Kev Bridgeman says there's a real buzz in Malmesbury Victoria's camp at the moment.

Bridgeman's side are unbeaten in the league and have also won two games in the last four days as they beat Pewsey in the Subsidiary Cup on Tuesday and progressed to the first round proper of the FA Vase with a 3-1 win over Virginia Water at the weekend.

Malmesbury return to league action on Saturday as they host eighth place Clanfield where a win could see them go top of Hellenic League Division One West and Bridgeman feels their confident mood will continue to benefit his team.

“The boys are high on confidence and expecting to be competitive," said Bridgeman. "It’s not down to arrogance but there’s a buzz around the team, especially at home so we're hoping to get those three points."

The Malmesbury boss feels Clanfield we'll be wary of his side but Victoria will be without Shane Bumphrey, who's scored eight goals so far this season, as he was sent off for a second bookable offence at the weekend.

“Clanfield haven’t set the league alight but they aren’t getting battered," Bridgeman commented. "They’ve seen we score goals so will try and stifle our attack. We are missing Bumphrey through suspension but the boys are confident.”

Due to cup exploits, the Vics won't have another league game until Saturday, October 6 which will then be followed by the FA Vase a week later. Malmesbury were drawn against Roman Glass St George of the Western Football League Premier and it’s a team Bridgeman knows well.

“We came against Roman Glass in our first Toolstation game,” said Bridgeman. “They play on a 4G surface and have a good home record. They surprised last season, got on a roll and deserved promotion. It would have been great to get a home draw but it’s a winnable tie.”
