NANT Conwy head the early WRU National League Division One North standings after an emphatic 37-8 victory over Bro Ffestiniog.

The defending champions displayed their dominance once again to extend their perfect start to the campaign, with Steffan Horan’s penalty putting them ahead after five minutes.

This was met by a strong response from the visitors, who levelled through a Huw James free-kick on 19 minutes and took a shock lead when Dewi James crossed the white wash with 24 gone.

James failed with the conversion attempt following what turned out to be their final score of the game as a Caron Davies try got Nant back on level terms on the half hour mark. Haoran fired over the extras.

The hosts managed to extend their advantage just before the break when a surging drive resulted in Ifan Jones touching down, and they continued to control proceedings after the break with Ifan Jones and Davies both dotting over within the opening five minutes of the second period.

Davies added two more points with the conversion attempt, and the dominant home side wrapped up another outstanding bonus point with late scores from Gethin Roberts and Gwynfor Morris.

Llandudno move into second spot to continue their excellent opening to the season courtesy of a 29-18 bonus point win on their travels at Caernarfon.
