CEFN DRUIDS produced a ruthless performance to thump Carmarthen Town 4-0 and leave boss Huw Griffiths purring.

Druids came flying out of the blocks and were two goals to the good inside seven minutes as Ryan Kershaw and Nathan Peate struck.

Only inspired goalkeeping from Lee Idzi prevented the home side from extending their lead, although he could do little to stop Jordan Evans and Dean Rittenberg from adding number three and four late on.

Griffiths declared: "We were brilliant. We started really well and could have scored three or four times in the first 20 minutes.

"You could tell from the warm up that we were ready for the game and the lads knew what we had to do to beat Carmarthen.

"Going in at half time 2-0 up left me thinking about the Llanelli game, where we lost 3-2, and Carmarthen hit the bar and had another chance to score.

"But after that Arek (Piskorski) had a one-on-one chance he should have scored, or maybe won a penalty from, Jordan Evans headed over completely unmarked and Nathan also missed a good chance.

"If we'd scored seven, possibly six, then no-one would have had any complaints.

"The most pleasing thing for me, though, is that we kept our first clean sheet of the season. That was our aim last week and we couldn't manage it, but we did it this week when the target was just to outscore the opposition.

"We played some fantastic football and to a man the players were excellent."

Next up for Druids is a trip to Barry Town United, who recorded a 1-0 win at Caernarfon Town, who had Clive Williams sent-off, courtesy of Marcus Jones' late strike.

That win saw Barry climb above Bala Town, who lost a five-goal thriller at Aberystwyth Town.

Geoff Kellaway's opener for the hosts was cancelled out by Mike Hayes, but Aber took control through Rio Ahmadi and Ashley Ruane.

Henry Jones converted a stoppage time penalty to set up a tense finish, although Aber held firm to secure the three points.

Aber boss Neville Powell, whose mother in-law passed away last week, dedicated the win to his family, adding: "It was a great performance by the boys, full of character and full of heart.

"It was a difficult week but the boys were fantastic for me."
