LLANDUDNO manager Iwan Williams was full of praise for his side after they secured their first JD Welsh Premier League victory of the season with a 2-0 home success over Barry Town United.

The ambitious club have finally been rewarded for a series of fine performances of late, and Tudno will look to build on this positive momentum when they make the long trip to Cardiff Met on Sunday (2.30pm).

Williams, said: “Barry are a difficult side to break down but the chances we created and the way we controlled the first half was exceptional and we should have gone in three or four up.

“One thing I enjoyed was knew coming out in the second half knowing they would try and bully us but we dominated that as well. We had a game plan to lock players in and it is a weight off our shoulders to get the first win. There has been some negativity surrounding the club but everyone in the changing room always kept believing.

“Leo (Smith) and John (Owen) were different animals for us today. John gave a real number nine performance and I want him to be angrier more often. Leo’s fantastic ability is there for all to see and he is going to get a new deal at Wrexham if he continues like this.

“To conceded two set pieces last week was not like us but we were very comfortable and have honest lads who put their heads in there and I am happy for them.

“We have a difficult trip next weekend but we are doing it properly, going overnight and we will go there with our tails up.”

The outstanding Smith got the home side up and running with a placed effort from just outside the area on 29 minutes, and this was swiftly followed by Owen finding the net with 31 on the clock.

They missed a number of chances to increase their advantage and seal the points, but Tudno saw out the remainder of the game in comfortable fashion to secure the elusive victory.
