PRESTATYN Town were left rueing a poor start in their 2-1 Huws Gray Alliance loss at Holyhead Hotspur.

The Seasiders’ suffered their second straight reverse after conceding twice within the opening 12 minutes of the contest, with Leon Field and Ryan Turner’s men hoping for better fortune when they entertain Penrhyncoch in the Huws Gray Cup this Saturday (2.30pm).

The home side made the perfect start to proceedings and were ahead within the opening minutes when talented youngster Harry Galeotti, a summer signing from Llangefni Town, took advantage of a defensive mix-up from Sam Kersh and Sam Williams to slot into the net.

Things got even worse for the visitors soon after when Jamie McDaid demonstrated his qualities with a stunning effort from outside the box with just 12 minutes on the clock.

This provoked a strong response from the away side, who almost levelled matters midway through the half when new signing Ian Griffiths fired wide after latching on to an Aaron White flick-on, with Alex Jones somehow missing the target with a free header from six yards out.

They finally got their reward on 33 minutes when Griffiths marked his return to the Town set-up with a goal after he reacted first to prod home a rebound after a White effort came back off the post.

After the break saw McDaid almost notch his second of the contest when a sublime effort sailed narrowly over, and Galeotti also spurned a good chance during a dominant spell to open the second period.

Despite controlling possession in difficult conditions for long periods of the half, the Seasiders were unable to find a way past the resolute rearguard of the Holy Islanders to condemn them to defeat, which leaves them sitting in bottom of the early standings after their fourth loss in six league outings so far.
