PONTBLYDDYN have wrapped up promotion but now they want to return to the top-flight with the Division One title in their grasp.

The Flintshire outfit made sure or a top two finish courtesy of a seven-wicket win at Mold last weekend, Chris Moss bagging 7-30 with the ball before Alistair Roberts (69) and James Griffiths (59 not out) did the business with the bat.

Pontblyddyn entertain Dolgellau tomorrow with an 11-point gap between themselves and second placed Mochdre, who must make sure that they beat Bethesda, in third, to avoid their visitors snatching the other promotion spot.

Captain Glenn Chambers, who is targeting a 12th successive league victory for his side tomorrow afternoon, said: “We are in a position where we are nearly there, so we need to make sure we finish strongly.”

Mold bring the curtain down on a frustrating campaign at Bersham, who flirted with promotion before fading away.

John Crane’s side were chasing a return to the Premier Division, but a 30-point deduction for fielding an ineligible player ended their promotion hopes and left them scrapping it out at the wrong end of the table.

The other game of the second-tier sees struggling Abergele play host to Llanrwst.

Flintshire duo Carmel and District and Mynydd Isa have plenty to play for on the final weekend of the Division Two season.

The pair are vying to beat Ruthin, who have completed their season, to the second promotion place.

Barry McGauty’s Carmel are in the box seat as they know victory over Buckley will see them secure the runners-up spot, while Isa, led by Chris Geary, need to beat visiting Corwen and hope the third placed outfit to slip up.

Reigning champions Gwersyllt Park will hope to cap their successful season with a win at Llangollen, although the home side have conceded seven matches this year, including each of their last two scheduled outings.
